Gwalior Fort

Jai Vilas Palace and Scindia Museum
This royal home of the Scindias was built by Maharaja Jayajirao in 1874. An elegant blend of Italian, Tuscan and Corinthian architectural styles; this palace is renowned for its enormous carpeted hall, crystal staircase, a colossal pair of chandeliers and a silver train that was used to serve food in the dining room.
Around 35 rooms of this opulent palace have been converted to a museum housing glass furniture, manuscripts, sculptures, coins, paintings, and weapons from that period.
